Appreciation: I know it is an anime adaptation of the game, but as I never played, all my appreciation will be done solely with the information I have of the anime. And I believe you are aware in game adaptations, the adaptation itself will certainly be more difficult than a manga who has already organized compiled information, but this also gives them some liberty to create too. Also to be honest, I pretty much can say from what I recall that I’m not that experienced in action-type animes, so I probably won’t be aware of less noticeable flaws, and I haven’t watch the episodes consecutively.

Warning: It does contains a lot of blood scenes if you haven’t guessed yet. Nothing to be shocked though.

First, it’s just foolish to deny the quality of the art and animation. It’s absolutely delightful. Very good perspectives, amazing colouring job, and flowing animation. The music is good too (I love the intro song) and the dark, shadowy environment of DMC swallows you in. And you have to love the apathetic hero who loves strawberry sundaes. (lol)

But then, it’s missing a good plot. I was a bit surprised when I knew it had just 12 episodes, because when I caught it on TV it gave me the feeling of just starting for something bigger, you know. A true shame. Because you know, when the characters are plain and don’t go evolving along with the history, which is normal in action types where the action is focused, you have to have a developing plot to stimulate their characters. Even though I can pretty much say I enjoyed a lot watching it, but it was such a mistake to waste it’s potential and not create a more complex plot and extend the episodes. Even though the plot is shallow, the ambience sustain it and the incredible animation compensates, making it enough to be enjoyable.

If you are looking for some awesome pew pew graphics to relieve your stress, Devil May Cry is your choice. It will not let down your expectations in animation.

Rate: Very Good
